  Assignment:  Rescue - (29 min.) - with teacher's guide and paperback
"'In the early months of World War II journalist Varian Fry, representing the Emergency Rescue Committee, rescued over 2,000 refugees in Vichy France from the German Gestapo, despite opposition both in France and the United States. This video by Richard Ka plan uses archival film footage and Fry’s own words to chronicle his work. Written and researched by Christina Lazaridi, narrated by Meryl Streep."

  Camera of My Family (18 min.)  Discussion Questions
Presents the history of four generations of one Jewish family in Germany, whose way of life came abruptly to an end when the Nazis rose to power. Told through the use of family portraits by Catherine Noren, with emphasis of the devastating impact of Nazi crimes.

  Courage to Care (29 min.)

"Grade level: Mid grades and above. This documentary explores the lives of Jews, primarily in Germany, who grew up during the Nazi rise to power. Now adults, all of the individuals interviewed live in Nashville."  Tennessee Holocaust Commission.

  Shadow of Hate:  A History of Intolerance in America (40 min.)
Southern Poverty Law Center (Teacher's guide and illustrated text included). Grade Level: Mid grades and above.
"The video is a lesson in citizenship and democracy. Through documentary footage and eyewitness reports, students are given a powerful view of historical events from the perspective of ordinary people who lived through them. For history, social studies, civics and language arts classes." Tennessee Holocaust Commission.

  Weapons of the Spirit (38 min.)
"
Grade level: Mid grades and above. Newsreel footage and interviews with both rescuers and those who were saved detail the story of the French village of Le Chambon in Vichy, France. Led by their pastor, villagers rescued 5,000 Jewish children during the Holocaust. The film's producer was one of them."  Tennessee Holocaust Commission.
