Journal, Magazine, and Newspaper Articles

Browse electronic and print periodicals in literature.

To quickly locate articles from magazines, journals, and newspapers, visit some library databases, including:

Literature Resource Center is an excellent resource for your research.  For information about a specific work, start with the "Name of Work" search.

For Example . . .

MagillOnLiterature Plus is an excellent source for  overviews, criticism and reviews of novels or short stories.  You can begin with a basic keyword search, of notice the many search options such as Title, Author, and Character(s).

Searching MagillOnLiterature Plus for A Christmas Carol leads to four articles, including book reviews and character reviews!

MagillOnLiterature Plus is also a good source for literary explication.

For Example . . .

Examples:

The JSTOR archive contains the full text of 322 scholarly journals, beginning with the very first issue of each title.

Searching JSTOR is a little different than some of the other databases.  To get the best results, use the Advanced Search and be sure to uncheck the box for "Search for links to articles outside of JSTOR" AND check the box for "Article."  The searches shown at the left are good examples, but you may need to experiment with different keywords to get better results.

 
The library also has a couple of excellent databases of VIDEOS that will be helpful for this assignment . . . be sure to ask for the unique usernames and passwords for these databases.
