  • Global Community - Is the world getting larger or smaller?
    • 750-1,000 word essay
    • include a minimum of two references from the texts used in the unit and two references from outside sources
  • Ethics and Values
    • 1,200-1,500 word essay
    • select an issue from any of the essays on pages 387-425 of textbook and deal with that essay as an issue of ethics or values
    • minimum of one reference from the text and three to five references from outside sources



Magazine and Journal Articles

To quickly locate articles from magazines, journals, and newspapers, visit some library databases, including:

MasterFILE Premiere will allow you to find articles on virtually any topic!

 

Once you do a search, MasterFILE will allow you to view your sources by type:

 

MasterFILE will also suggest other Subject headings to research, as shown at the left.

Opposing Viewpoints is an excellent resource to find articles on current or controversial issues.

This database will provide information from a variety of sources:

 

You can find material in Opposing Viewpoints by doing a "Basic Search" . . .

Or you can select from a long list of broad topics provided by the database . . .

You can browse the list of topics as show above, or you can search for specific topics.

Points of View Reference Center is another great resource for this assignment!

 

In addition to providing a list of topics with relevant research, Points of View Reference Center offers a series of writing tools that may help you with this assignment.
