Meeting 1,  April 8, 2004, Minutes

11am Lunch available
11am - 11:25am Vicky greets members & guests, rambles on about the attached videoplan.xls, demos videos available
on library website, etc.
11:28am Vicky calls our pilot project partner, Chris Dedrick at Films for Humanities and Sciences, (FFHS) on a speakerphone. (FFHS has loaned us 10 digital videos in various formats so we can experiment with providing these over the network to Andrea Sanders' RODP class and Shirley Clark's Amnicola Campus class in Fall 2004. FFHS is the most knowledgeable and cooperative vendor we have found in helping us learn how to migrate from VHS videos available only over closed-circuit to online videos available to any student, anywhere, any time.) 11:40am - 1:00pm Members and guests discuss the following items: 1) Review the original charge to Vicky from TAC: a) To explore alternatives to the current closed circuit system which would hopefully lead to a digital solution in the long run for students to be able to access it anywhere, anytime; b) To come up with a recommendation plan for actions for the January 2002 meeting (Note: The "Videos on Demand" project is attached.) 2) Review the charge to the "Videos on Demand Project" group from TAC. a) Look at our next step (after we have adequately improved the infrastructure) b) Look at possible ways to deliver video to our students 3) Discuss the attached "Videos on Demand" plan in detail and ensure that all members understand its contents. (It is VERY IMPORTANT that you READ THE PLAN before coming to the meeting.) 4) Review the attached memo to TAC that recommended the first projects to implement from the plan. 5) Discuss how to implement one pilot project described in the plan. This will provide digital videos to two classes. Andrea Sanders and Shirley Clark are invited to attend this meeting because their students will be giving us feedback on the project. Hugh Vines and Al Covington have given us a list of closed-circuit videos they would like their students to view over the network. 5) Decide the date of the next meeting.
