US 210:  Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Spring 2002

Course Instructor:  Jody Arnold
Library Instructor:  Vicky Leather, 697-2576
Assignment:  Students will research a topic and write a paper discussing it as it relates to sonography.  Students will use professional journals and books for the majority of their research.  Several places to begin this research are given below.

DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING
This is a guide to books, journals, journal databases, and Internet sites on Diagnostic Imaging.  It is prepared by Chattanooga State Technical Community College reference librarians.

PubMed
This is a database of medical journal article citations and abstracts.  The National Library of Medicine compiles this from thousands of medical journals published in 40 languages all over the world.  It does not include the text of the article, so you must find it at a local library or request the article through Interlibrary Loan.   No password is required to use this public database.

  Health Reference Center
This is a database of health and medical journal articles. It includes citations, abstracts, and complete text of some of the articles.  This is part of the Tennessee Electronic Library, funded by federal and state taxes just for the citizens of Tennessee.  It is a private database prepared by the Infotrac division of The Gale Group and requires a password to access from home.

Below are links to some articles in the Health Reference Center to help you get started on your research.

Tissue harmonics
Peyronie's disease
Three-dimensional (3-D) ultrasound
Technological advances through diagnostic ultrasound's history
Technology of handheld ultrasound devices/units
Extended field of view / Panoramic imaging  (Articles may only mention this.)
