Assignment:  Research a topic and write a 6-page paper discussing it as it relates to sonography. Use library databases, professional journals and books for the majority of the research.  You must have at least 5 sources.  Prepare a product of publishable quality by professional standards with AMA formatting.  Complete the Library Instructor Evaluation 
before leaving class.

AGent is a search engine for library databases.  You can select several databases to search simultaneously.  Check the "Health" folder to search those databases.
bullet Write down the library username and password for this search engine and library databases.

PubMed is a public database of medical journal article references compiled by The National Library of Medicine.  No password is needed.  Journal names are abbreviated and most references do not include the full-text of the article.  You may need to request the full-text of the article.  That service is called Interlibrary Loan.  Follow the steps below to get the full-text of PubMed articles.
bullet  Get the full name of the journal here
bullet  Type the name of the journal in Journal Search to see if our library has the journal. 
bullet If so, ask how to get the full-text of the article.
bullet If not, complete an Interlibrary Loan Periodical Request so we can get it from another library.

General OneFile and the Health and Wellness Resource Center are private databases of journal references and articles. 

CINAHL is a private database of nursing and allied health articles.

Wikipedia is a public encyclopedia compiled by people from all over the globe.  Always compare its information to other sources before accepting it.  Look at the bottom of the article to see if sources are given.

MedlinePlus.gov is a public database of medical information aimed toward the consumer. It is prepared by the National Library of Medicine. No password is needed.
