State Library Catalog from home or school. All other resources below

1. Find
books on your topic by
searching the
Chattanooga State Library

Tips:
-- Type your subject in the
Search box, limit it to
Main Library, and click
Search.
-- For "teen pregnancy," your
results will look like this:
Search Tips:
--Put " " around a
phrase. Example: "teen pregnancy"
--Put a + in front of each term
if you are combining several terms. Example: +"world war II"
+soldier
--Put a ?
after the singular form of a word to also get the plural form.
Example: soldier?
More Tips:
--The most relevant books are listed
first.
--Copy the
Call Number to find the book on
the shelf.
--Look at the
Status to see if the book is
"Available, "Checked-Out," or "Overdue."
--Present a driver's license or
learner's permit to check out 2 books for 3 weeks.
--Watch
"Finding a Book to Check Out" to see how it works.
2. Use General OneFile from the Tennessee Electronic Library to find current articles about an issue. Look at all the tabs.

Tips:
Combine words with
and (teenagers and family).
Put phrases in quotes ("peer
pressure").
