Asignment:
  Students will write an argumentative/persuasive essay on each of these topics which were taken from the course text: Nature, Work and the Workplace, Global Community, Science and Technology, and Ethics.  Students should refer to the course syllabus for the research and documentation requirements for each paper. 
 

VIDEOS

Use Discovery Education streaming to find videos on your topic that could give you ideas about important issues and history to help you guide your research. (Passwords required.)

ARTICLES

Use electronic databases to find current information from magazines, journals, newspapers
and other authoritative sources.  (Different passwords required.)

1. Points of View Reference Center
     Search Tips:
          Choose a topic from a Category, view all specific topics, or type in your topic.
          Look for an "Overview" as well as "Point" and "Counterpoint" essays.
          Results may be sorted by DATE or RELEVANCE.         

2. MasterFile Premier
     Search Tips:
          Use an * to find varied word endings (warm* gets warming, warmer, warmed)
          Use quotation marks to find a phrase ("environmental protection")
          Use and to include all terms in your search results (oil and exploration)
          Try these searches: (your topic) and controversy; OR (your topic) and debate


E-BOOKS

Use electronic books to have off-campus access to a digital book collection.

     Search Tips:
          Search by SUBJECT if default FULL TEXT is too broad.
          Click on links within the book, or type in a term to "Search this eContent."
          Remember to "Close Item" when finished.
