  Assignment:
  Each student will write a 4-5 page paper on a topic approved by the instructor.
  Five sources are required and may be of any type.
Internet sites must be approved by the instructor.


ARTICLES:
for information from magazines, journals,
      newspapers and other authoritative sources.  (Passwords required.)

     Search Tips:
          -Use an * to find varied word endings, ex. legal* gets legal, legalization, legalized.
          -Use quotation marks to find a phrase, ex. "alternative fuels"
          -Use and to include all terms in your search results, ex. same-sex marriage and law   

    1.  MasterFile Premier
          -Type keywords in search box, using search tips above. 
          -Choose source types in the column to the left of the results list.
         
-Choose "Subjects" in the column to the left to narrow your results.   

    2.  Lexis Nexis Academic (worldwide news sources)
          -Type the topic in the search box. Notice default date is last 2 years.
          -Sort result list by DATE, if desired.
          -Choose source types and/or geographical location in left column.
          -View a portion of the text with the "Expanded List" display.           

BOOKS/E-BOOKS/OTHER MATERIALS

       Use the library CATALOG to find books to check-out and/or view online, as well as
             government documents and some videos. 

  • Type a one or two-word topic in the search box-ex, legalization drugs (do not use and).

  • Filter your search, if desired, by using the list in the blue box to the right--choose "Online Books" for e-books to read online.

  • OR filter by "Main Library" and look for for books that can be checked out.

  • Students at SVTC visit the Bledsoe Co. Public Library to requests books.
