  Assignment:
  Students will write a 1200-1500 word research project for Essay #4.  Three
  different sources are required, with at least one reference to the readings in the text and
  at least 2 references to outside sources.

ARTICLES

  Use electronic databases to find current information from magazines, journals,
  newspapers and other authoritative sources.  (Passwords required.)

  1. Points of View Reference Center
     Search Tips:
          -Choose a topic from a "Browse a Category," OR from "View all Topics," OR
          type in your topic.
          -Look for an "Overview" as well as "Point" and "Counterpoint" essays.
          -Results may be sorted by DATE or RELEVANCE.        

  2. MasterFile Premier
     Search Tips:
          -Use an * to find varied word endings (child* gets child, children, childhood)
          -Use quotation marks to find a phrase ("underage drinking")
          -Use and to include all terms in your search results (immigrants and "english
                                                                                                                             language")         

BOOKS/E-BOOKS/OTHER MATERIALS

       Use the library CATALOG to find books to check-out and/or view online, as well as
             government documents and some videos. 

  • Type a one or two-word topic in the search box-ex, legalization drugs (do not use and)

  • Filter your search, if desired, by using the list in the blue box to the right--choose "Online Books" for e-books to read online.

  • OR filter by "Main Library" and look for for books that can be checked out.
