Sources of information:

1. Books in our library-- Library Catalog.

2.  Masterfile Premier. When you search this database for articles consider the following

  • Use an asterisk (*) to get varied word endings.  E.g.  child*  will retrieve child, and children.

  • Use "and" between search words to force both words to be in the document. E.g.  child* and Abuse

  • Use synonyms connected with "or" and enclose in parentheses.     E.g.  (child* and safety or health)

  • Enclose exact phrases in quotation marks.  E.g.  "child* and school"

3.  General OneFile. Try these terms: "child schooling", or try "child and prevent and abuse".  Can you think of other ways or terms to search?   Type in child in a basic search and note the subjects on the left used by this database.

4.  Health and Wellness Resource Center. This database focuses on medical issues. You may be able to use the same search terms in this database that you used in the other databases.

7.  What is the difference between a journal and a magazine?
