Assignment: Students will prepare a presentation on a controversial issue of their choosing. Three sources are required, but Internet sites are not allowed for this report.

Note: Phrase your topic as a question that will require you to argue both sides of an issue and make a decision based on your research, for example:

Are zero tolerance laws effective in preventing school violence?
Will the use of surveillance (security) cameras mean that I will lose my right to privacy?
Are social networking sites causing decreased social interaction?
Should athletes who use drugs (steroids, HGH) be banned from participation?
Should libraries regulate internet access and/or filter websites?

Use these resources to find information to support your arguments.
(You will need the current passwords to access electronic databases from off-campus.)

Browse topics by category OR View all specific topics OR type in your topic and combine keywords with AND
The Points of View tab includes Overviews of each topic. Look for "Guide to Critical Analysis."
Use the "How to..." column for writing assistance.
