- How do I get a Chattanooga State library card?
For Chattanooga State students, the free photo ID is the library card. Photo ID cards are made in Room 216 of the Student Center,
Monday through Thursday, 7:30AM - 5:00 PM and Friday 7:30AM - 4:30PM.

appointment.
- How many books can I check out?
Students may have 10 books out at one time. Faculty and staff may have 25 books. Community patrons may have
2 books.
- How long can I keep books after I check them out?
Students and community patrons may check books out for 3 weeks. Faculty and staff may check books out for
3 months.
- Can I renew books if I need to keep them longer?
Yes, if there are no holds on the books you may renew them. You may bring them in or renew them online through the library catalog when you access
"Your Account." Call the library at 423.697.4448 for more information.
- Where can I find magazine and newspaper articles?
Magazines and newspapers can be accessed in print and electronically. From the library's homepage, click on "Journal
Title Search" to see a list of titles available in print or
online.
- What are the passwords to access the library's databases from off campus?
Database passwords change each semester and are given to currently-enrolled students, faculty, and staff. Call a reference librarian at 423.697.4436 for password information.
- Can I make copies in the library?
Yes, there are 2 photocopiers in the library. Copies are 10 cents per page.
- May I bring food and drinks into the library?
Closed drink containers may be brought into the library, but food is not allowed.
- Where can I watch a video for a class I am taking?
Several closed circuit television monitors are located in the library. See
library staff for assistance.
- Can I print from a disk, a flashdrive or type an assignment or a paper?
Printing from a disk or flashdrive is available on all the library computers.
Also, the College Reading & Writing Center has a computer lab with access to word processing and printing. The College Reading & Writing Center is located in Room 215 on the
2nd floor of the library building and can be reached at 423.697.2410.
- Can I use the library if I am not a Chattanooga State student?
Yes, anyone is welcome to use the library's resources. Persons who are not
Chattanooga State students may obtain a Community Borrower's card upon
presentation of a local driver's license. Community patrons may check out 2 books at one time.
