How Do I Find a Federal Law Using LexisNexis Academic?

Select LexisNexis
Academic from the Library web page at
http://library.chattanoogastate.edu.
Select the Legal tab.
Click on Federal & State Codes.
We want to search the United States Code Service. Note the i
gives information about this source, including how often it is updated.
There are other sources available from the Sources drop down box, such as CFR or Federal
Register.
Add search terms in the
Terms and Connectors box by using the connectors explained in the View
Connectors link.
Let's search for a citation in USCS, the United States Code Service.
Under the Sources box,
click Show options to search specific document sections.
The drop down box beside Section, select Cite.
It matters how the citation is entered.
In the Terms box, type 18 uscs sec 2334.
Click Add to Search.
Click Search, and the full text of the code comes up.
Notice the Tips for using search connectors under the Terms and
Connectors box. These are explained in other East Library videos.
Saving, Printing, Emailing
Notice the print, emailing, saving icons on the upper right. It is helpful
to save text in electronic format for ease of quoting.
