Highlight: A small business assistance center set up at CSTCC.  Nursing moves across from Erlanger.  Humanities building named for Dr. Claude Bond.  Dr. Wagner gives his view of what a community college is (9-20-87 article).

Dr. Wagner gives his vies of what a community college is.  He “said a junior college is considered different from a community college.”  “He said a community college is seen as having a much broader mission, possessing not only a two-year transfer program but other career and vocational/technical programs.”

CIM Demonstration Center will have three parts.  “Mr. Reed said Chattanooga State was selected by IBM because the college already has a state-of-the-art computer-integrated design, computer-integrated manufacturing center.”

The Chattanooga Times Free Press has given Chattanooga State Community College, Augusta R.
