"On July 1, 1981, the Chattanooga State Technical Community College established pursuant to 49-8-101, and the Chattanooga State Area Vocational-Technical School established pursuant to 49-11-402 shall become one institution which shall be known as the 'Chattanooga State Technical Community College'..." Rep. Paul Starnes “said consolidation of the schools would result in ‘greater efficiency.’"  “Sen. Ray Albright, Senate sponsor of the move last year and the expected sponsor this year,  said Wednesday, ‘I have never felt more strongly that anything was all right as this is since I began my political career.’”  Bill is to “merge the Chattanooga State Technical Community College and the Chattanooga Area Vocational School and place the new school under the state Board of Regents.”
